Add-On Services That Increase Window Cleaning Revenue

You're already at the property with the ladder, the pole and the trust. Add-on services turn that visit into more revenue without more driving — here's which ones work and how to offer them.

Window cleaner clearing a gutter with a pole as an add-on service during a window cleaning visit

Winning a new customer is expensive — ads, canvassing, time quoting. Selling more to a customer you already have is close to free. You're parked outside, they already trust you, and the extra work often takes minutes once you're set up. That's why add-on services are the quietest, most reliable way to grow revenue: more value per visit, with none of the cost of chasing new leads.

Why add-ons beat chasing new customers

Every job carries unpaid overhead: driving there, parking, setting up, packing down. When you add a second service to the same visit, that overhead is already paid for — so the extra revenue lands at a much higher margin than a fresh job across town. Raising your average value per visit is usually a faster route to a better week than squeezing in more stops.

The add-ons that fit window cleaning naturally

The best add-ons use kit and skills you already have, or are a small step from them. The usual winners:

  • Gutter clearing and gutter-face cleaning — high demand, strong margins, and a natural pairing with a pole-based setup.
  • Fascia, soffit and cladding cleaning — the bright trim right beside the windows you're already doing.
  • Conservatory and skylight cleaning — glass roofs that customers rarely think to ask about until you offer.
  • Solar panel cleaning — a growing, higher-ticket service that uses the same reach-and-wash approach.
  • Pressure washing for drives, patios and paths — a bigger kit step, but a popular seasonal earner.
  • Screen and track cleaning, where insect screens are common — a quick, appreciated extra on a standard visit.
Start with what you can do tomorrow

You don't need to launch every service at once. Pick the one add-on that needs the least new equipment and the least new skill — often gutter or fascia cleaning — prove it pays, then add the next. A couple of well-run services beats six you offer half-heartedly.

Price add-ons on their own terms

A common mistake is pricing extras "per window" or bundling them in for almost nothing to seem generous. Add-ons usually price on a different basis — by property size, by the metre, or per item — and they carry their own time, risk and consumables. Price each one to your target hourly rate in its own right, the same discipline you'd apply to the core clean. For the underlying method, see how to price window cleaning jobs and per-window vs property-based pricing.

When and how to offer them

The easiest sale is the one that answers a need the customer can see. Timing and framing do most of the work:

  1. Mention the add-on when it's visibly relevant — "your gutters are starting to sprout, want me to clear them while I'm here?" converts far better than a generic flyer.
  2. Offer it inside the quote. If your quote form lets customers tick extras when they request a price, a good share will add them before you've said a word.
  3. Bundle a logical pair at a small saving — windows plus gutters, or windows plus fascias — so the bigger job feels like the smart choice.
  4. Prompt seasonally — gutters before autumn, patios in spring — so the offer lands when demand is already there.

Let the extras sell themselves at quote time

You won't be face-to-face for every enquiry, and that's fine — the quote itself can do the upselling. When a customer requests a price online and can add gutters, fascias or a conservatory roof with a tick, your average job value climbs without you lifting a finger. It's the same principle as turning one-off cleans into regular customers: make the more valuable option the easy one to choose.

Protect quality as you add services

More services only help if each is done well — a rushed gutter job that leaves a mess costs you the window round too. Add capacity, kit or a second pair of hands before you add volume, and keep the core clean excellent. Done right, add-ons turn a thin round into a profitable one without a single extra customer; for the bigger picture see building a more profitable round.
